In difficulty since her arrival at OM last summer, Lilian Brassier was treated to a nice blow from Roberto De Zerbi during training during the October break, according to L'Equipe.
Not even in the group against Lens (3-1). On the bench against Monaco (2-1). And playing time reduced to a handful of seconds last weekend in Saint-Étienne (2-0). Relegated to the hierarchy of central defenders for a few weeks, Lilian Brassier is experiencing a delicate start to his adventure at OM.

“He understands my instructions better than you who have been with me for three months”
Arriving last summer from Brest in the form of a loan with an option to buy, estimated at 12 million, the 25-year-old started the season as a starter, before paying for a lack of consistency and regularity in his performances. When putting down his starting lineup, Roberto De Zerbi now relies on a defensive trio most often composed of Amir Murillo, Leonardo Balerdi and Geoffrey Kondogbia.
Obviously a disavowal for Brassier, not yet able to meet the high demands of his coach. A scene recounted this Saturday in the columns of L'Equipe clearly illustrates this complicated adaptation of the former Rennais. During training in October, De Zerbi seriously reframed him, taking him aside and pointing out in front of him a young person who had come that day to learn with the pros.
“Do you see him? He has been with us for three days and he understands my instructions better than you who have been with me for three months,” the Italian technician would have said, in essence. A few weeks earlier, Brassier had however been defended internally by De Zerbi, after a victory in Toulouse (3-1).
Unless there are any surprises, he should sit on the bench again this Saturday for the clash against Lille (5 p.m.), at the Vélodrome, on the 15th day of Ligue 1.
