A former Real player, author of a mixed spell at the Bernabeu, took the liberty of giving advice to Kylian Mbappé.
Ex-Real Madrid midfielder Ruben de la Red spoke to the Spanish media this weekend. He spoke in particular about the poor form of Kylian Mbappé. He felt that the Frenchman must absolutely rediscover his “killer” instinct to be more efficient.
Mbappé scored in the win against Getafe on Sunday, but De la Red believes the Bondynois' problem is not resolved yet. In particular, he invited him to have more humility.
“Mbappé must be more killer in front of goals”
He explained on El Larguero: “ Everyone can understand that, right? He's a player who has been sought after for, I don't know how long, three, four years, who finally arrives and who is expected to perform well, right? I don't know if I should say he's the size of Cristiano Ronaldo, but he was a bit like that, right? He arrives as a star, he arrives as desired, he arrives as… the hope that he will be the new Cristiano Ronaldo.”
Mbappé had puffed out his chest during his presentation at the Bernabeu.
“But there is also Vinicius, who has a level that makes him the best player in the world at the moment. It is also the one which is the most decisive. So it’s difficult to integrate, especially since Mbappé arrived “too modestly”, I would say…. I'm going to be loved, I'm going to be good, but…“. A player like him had to come with the desire to be a killer, right? With the desire to do important things,” continued the 2008 European champion.
De la Red then concluded by stating: “He scored nine goals, but of course in recent years we are used to the top scorer, the leader, the team leader, scoring 50 or 60 goals. So there are a lot of hopes hanging over Mbappé… Of course, the French League is not the same as the Spanish Liga, Real Madrid, the Champions League, well…”
