After a valuable victory against Montpellier, ASSE hopes to start a series against Rennes. The Stéphanois will face the SRFC this Saturday at 5 p.m. Olivier Dall'Oglio presented himself at a press conference this Thursday. Extract.
Olivier Dall'Oglio (Entraîneur de l'ASSE) : “My memories in Rennes? We had moved up to the first division. It’s always good to go up the first year I arrived. I left a lot of friends there. I stayed three seasons. I discovered Ligue 1 as a player there. These are great memories. The club has really evolved since then and is no longer the same. It was already a very good club. But we were not at the European level like today. The budget was different. Even if we already had the Pinault sponsor. It was another era. But I'm going to meet up with quite a few veterans who stayed in Brittany. So that always makes me happy. The memories were very good because the two Ligue 1 seasons that I did there went well. Unfortunately, I ended my career there with a bad injury. But hey, it's part of the life of a footballer. I stopped there due to an injury from the Crusaders. I couldn't restart behind.”
A constructive experience before ASSE
Olivier Dall'Oglio (Entraîneur de l'ASSE) : “But it was useful to me. Many experiences from my playing career I use today to help players. I know what it is. For example, we have Ben Old who still has a pretty serious injury. It will bounce back. I can have words for what I experienced. I know that even when we go through difficult times, we bounce back. My period at Stade Rennais was also about discovering Brittany. It was a very interesting and happy time with many very good memories.
I had already obtained educational qualifications very early in my career, without really wanting to become a coach or educator. I had been an educator during summer internships at 17, and I didn't mind it. I told myself that I'm going to get some diplomas. At the end of my career, I already had a state certificate, which allowed me to continue.
I had a period after my injury at Stade Rennais of confrontation with myself. This lasted for a while, to see if I stopped, if I didn't stop. There was a two-year hesitation which then allowed me to think and be able to launch into a career as an educator. I wanted to be a trainer before moving on to the pros.”
