Without a club since his departure from Niort at the end of last season, Bruno Ecuele Manga would have liked to return to the Girondins de Bordeaux, where he was trained. But the scapular club did not retain his profile.
Despite its descent to National 2, Bordeaux remains a very attractive club for many players. The proof is that Andy Carroll joined the Girondins against all odds last summer, a more than winning bet for the current third in N2 since the English striker is by far their top scorer. The rest of the team is nevertheless made up of players unknown to the general public. Bordeaux chose not to rely too much on former Ligue 1 players at the end of their careers, although their experience could have been useful to Bruno Irlès' team. Bruno Ecuele Manga can attest to this. Trained at the Girondins, the one who defended the colors of Angers, Lorient, Cardiff, Dijon and even Niort, would have loved to return to Bordeaux but the club with the scapular has said no to him for the moment.
“It’s a challenge that I obviously found interesting. I waited for the athletic director to call me back, but the call never came. It was absolutely not about money. At my age, it was the challenge, the desire to help my club. It's a shame, I would have really loved to come and help this magnificent club with all my energy, and thus end my career there. Afterwards, even today, I always remain available, I want to help the club. If they need me, if they call me, I will be there with great pleasure” confided Bruno Ecuele Manga in an interview with the Girondins4Ever website. The message has in any case gotten through, in case Bruno Irlès has an urgent need in central defense, the one who has 129 matches with Lorient, 89 matches with Dijon and 106 selections with Gabon, is ready to return to service from the top of his 36 years old.
