President Claude Ferrandi reacted this Wednesday evening on RCFM about the decisions of the DNCG, which notably relegated SC Bastia to the National as a precautionary measure at the end of the season. The cause is a cash flow gap of around €2 million linked to the reduction in TV rights.
“I don't think that the DNCG has decided to crack down, it adopts another doctrine. We were faced with a reduction in TV rights of around €1.8 million. This decision comes following a cash flow impasse and not on an overall balance sheet Which would have allowed us to finance our traditional season cycle, with the impact of the -1.8 M€ of TV rights, that puts us in this impasse. We had to provide the guarantee that we were. able to fill this today. current managers, we do not have the means to provide this €1.8 million. We have already made significant contributions in previous years, this season we do not have the means, especially since it mainly comes from this loss. TV rights. […] I'm not surprised by this decision, I thought we could have had a little more confidence. We are a club that remains fragile financially. We must continue to work with serenity and ardor.”
Player sales paid over several seasons
“The transfer amounts are never net amounts. From these amounts a lot of costs are deducted, in particular agent fees. The delay in collecting sales creates this lack of cash flow. We have concluded transfers for players , which are collected over two to three seasons. These sales are therefore not collected immediately. This is what creates the cash flow requirement. If we had had this €1.8 million in TV rights, we would have had approximately. €1 million in profits And we would in no case talk about this cash flow impasse. […] Some Ligue 2 clubs have made up for it with drastic cuts or with their own funds, that is to say the personal funds of the managers. This is what we are not able to do today. […] I have always said that we need more people in the shareholder base to be stronger.”
Recruits in January conditioned to departures
“We can appeal the decision. We worked with the sports management to ensure that certain players could leave us in January, and that we could recruit at the same time. We just need to release enough payroll to recruit so many. We had planned a bit on that aspect.”
