Happy to be able to celebrate its 80th anniversary with its former glories and its supporters, LOSC gave itself a Nice gift by surpassing Stade Rennais this Sunday (1-0), in Lille.
Less than a year ago, at the start of the year, the Bretons landed in the North and spoiled the festivities, those which were to pay tribute to Eden Hazard, recently retired, with an early achievement (1′). In great difficulty since the start of the season, and now led by Jorge Sampaoli, successor to Julien Stéphan, Stade Rennais, however, showed a particularly poor face, unable to threaten Lucas Chevalier in his cages. The latter spent a very quiet evening admiring the Lille public and encouraging his own teammates on the rectangle.
The latter, while in control, gave a few pushes in the first period, notably through intoxicating collective actions. It was also on one of these, when the Mastiffs had almost all hit the leather following a restart from Lucas Chevalier, that Edon Zhegrova opened the scoring (45′). The second period was generally management, even if LOSC had a few opportunities to shine. Time tirelessly passed and, while the Lille supporters paid tribute to their legends, the final whistle sounded (1-0).

Winner of Stade Rennais in front of their home crowd, LOSC continues its invincibility with an eleventh match without defeat this Sunday. However, in this great series, his men had the annoying habit of recording numerous zero results (5) which did not really allow us to move forward. These three points, on the other hand, are particularly positive. The Mastiffs (4th, 22 pts) are now part of the lead car, following AS Monaco (2nd, 26 pts) and OM (3rd, 23 pts) in the fight for the podium, and distancing certain competitors. Olympique Lyonnais, Stade de Reims and RC Lens notably lost points. Only OGC Nice, who managed to snatch a draw before the break against Lille, managed to maintain the pace.
Besides this 100% Lille point of view, AJ Auxerre is the nice surprise of this start of the season. Promoted to Ligue 1, the Auxerrois are currently among the candidates for qualification for the European Cup. Toulouse FC and RC Strasbourg remain in the soft underbelly while AS Saint-Étienne and Le Havre AC, both victorious, take a little breath in the red zone in which FC Nantes, Angers and Montpellier now appear. Stade Rennais, at one point of this abyss for its part, could well experience a difficult season given the face displayed.
