With an extremely reduced squad and, consequently, a very rejuvenated starting eleven, Amiens SC had to work hard to overcome Fleury (1-1, 3-5 tab), this Saturday during the 7th round of the Coupe de France.
Dao and Sauvage made the difference
After a rather disjointed start to the match, during which Fleury obtained several corners while Amiens failed to take advantage of two opposing restart errors (11', 13'), Koffi opened the scoring for the Ile-de-France residents by defeating Jaouab and Sauvage (1-0, 20'). Quickly with their backs to the wall, Omar Daf's men slowly but surely gained momentum. Like a very restless Elyess Dao on the attacking front, but clumsy (25', 41', 59') or then blocked by the opposing goalkeeper (43').
Finally, the former Toulouse striker was rewarded for his efforts by equalizing following a lot of work from Ikia Dimi on the left side (1-1, 71'). Before that, Boya had been flagged for offside when he had scored on one of Amiens' rare concrete chances (47'). Caught, Fleury moved forward in the last quarter of an hour and further worried Sauvage with a succession of corners. Gurtner's usual understudy was notably perfectly supported by Bakayoko (79′, 84′).
Not without difficulty, Amiens resisted the opposing attacks until the end of added time, with a final saving save from Jaouab (90'+5). Enough to treat yourself to a penalty shootout which favored the Ligue 2 club, with a decisive save from Sauvage.
The match film:
10′ An Amiens defender throws himself to concede a corner. Urhoghide does the same. On the second attempt stopped, Badin sends his volley well above.
11' Dao pushes his ball too far after a good recovery at the entrance to the opponent's penalty area.
13′ The Fleury goalkeeper misses his restart. The ball arrives at Gene who attempts an imprecise lob.
20′ Koffi infiltrates the left side, drops off Jaouab and opens the scoring by finding a mouse hole at the near post (1-0).
25′ Dao manages to gain speed but sees his shot being blocked by the opposing defense.
41′ After a corner from Ikia Dimi, Dao bursts at the near post but fails to clear his header.
43′ Dao, again, attempts an acrobatic volley but falls on an impeccable Petit. After a corner initially pushed back, the young attacker was again defeated by Fleury's last rampart.
47′ Boya thinks to equalize with a header, but the Cameroonian is flagged for offside.
59′ Dao crushes his recovery too much to worry the opposing goalkeeper.
69′ Dao’s center crosses the entire surface without finding a partner.
71′ Ikia Dimi takes everyone by default on the left side and crosses for Dao who equalizes with the help of the post (1-1).
79′ New series of corners from Fleury on which Amiens struggles to ward off the danger until the good intervention of Bakayoko.
86′ Muscular intervention from Urhoghide at the feet of Koffi. The National 2 players demand a penalty. In vain.
90'+5 Jaouab uses his body to repel a heavy opponent's strike.
