Paris Saint-Germain have relaunched Moise Kean on loan in 2020/2021. Coming out of a difficult season at Everton at the age of 19, the Italian striker found himself at PSG where he was able to rub shoulders with a high-level team both professionally and humanly speaking.
Moise Kean (24 years old) is already in the eighth season of his professional career which began at the age of 16. Just that. Launched by the Juventus which is none other than his training club, the Italian international is currently living again at the Fiorentina with his 8 goals which make him the second top scorer in Serie A behind Mateo Retegui. But before being reborn, Kean had a complicated experience Liverpool when he signed Everton at only 19 years old.
“The opportunity to go to PSG (on loan) presented itself, I went there and got everything I could out of myself”
After a season during which he did not benefit from an indisputable starting place among the Toffees, Moise Kean testified to a one-season loan agreement with no option to purchase between Everton and the PSG in the summer of 2020. During this exercise, the Italian striker had a blast and gained all the experience he could get in Paris.
“But England allowed me to learn a lot about myself. I have matured a lot. When I arrived, I didn't play much. I was like, 'How come I'm not in this team at Everton?' Mentally, it made me evolve. I wasn't playing and it was in the dark times that I knew I had to grit my teeth and practice even harder. Then the opportunity to go to PSG (on loan) presented itself, I went there and got everything I could out of myself. I wasn't playing at Everton and I knew I had to give the triple. That’s how it happened.”
“They knew it hadn’t gone well for me at Everton and they helped me”
Moise Kean confided at length to The Athletic during this international break. The opportunity for him to highlight the extent to which the group of players present at the PSG at this time marked him and allowed him to find himself again football-wise.
“Neymar and Mbappé? It wasn't just them either. There were others like Leandro Paredes, Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe. They knew it hadn't gone well for me at Everton and they helped me. I swear to you they were great people, people with good heart. I felt love around me and I succeeded because of it. Just showing me 80% of what they did every day made me want to do well. When you have people around you who care about you and believe in you, it means a lot.” The PSG of Thomas Tuchel and of Mauricio Pochettino therefore marked Moise Kean who is now stacking the goals at the Fiorentina.
