Recently called up to defend the colors of the France team, Lucas Chevalier is one of the goalkeepers who keep the most clean sheets in Ligue 1.
Unlike last season, during which Paulo Fonseca granted a few meetings to Vito Mannone (second in the hierarchy of Lille goalkeepers), Lucas Chevalier goes match after match, from the national scene to the European scene. As proof, he has already made 19 appearances this season. A rhythm that he does not endure: « The schedule is busy, but I, frankly, am 23 years old. If I complain that there are too many matches, I don't understand anything”he began at the start of the week, present at a press conference with the Blues.
“I love football, I’m passionate about it. Obviously, it’s tiring. But I don't want to complain. We earn a good living, we have so many advantages… Maybe a player who is 30 years old, with all the experience and physical problems, that can be exhausting. I'm not there yet. If I have to play every day, I play every day.”insisted the last bastion of LOSC, third in the hierarchy in the French team.
The words add up to the actions and the figures, which prove that Lucas Chevalier is keeping up. In eleven league appearances, he has kept clean sheets five times. He thus has a percentage of 45.5% clean sheets, the best with Guillaume Restes (Toulouse FC) and Brice Samba (RC Lens). This data is also to the credit of the Lille defense which, after a few beginnings, managed to regain its cruising speed. Since the first day, LOSC has conceded eleven pawns in eleven days. This total allows it to be the fourth best defense in Ligue 1 with OGC Nice and Toulouse FC. Only AS Monaco (8 goals), RC Lens (9) and PSG (10) are more solid so far.
