This summer, Paris Saint-Germain courted Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. But the matter was never able to come to an end since Naples refused any approach for their Georgian, who was nevertheless excited by the idea of joining the capital club. In discussions with the club to extend his contract until 2029, the discussions are currently at an impasse according to information from La Gazzetta dello Sport. If the Serie A leader would like to offer him an annual salary of five million euros and a release clause of more than 100 million euros, the 23-year-old winger would not hear it that way and would like a higher salary and a clause of 80 million euros.
A PSG-Barça duel for Kvaratskhelia?
A boon for PSG but also for Barça according to the Italian media. The two clubs would thus have contacted the player's entourage to indicate their interest if he were to not renew. The signing of a winger is a priority this summer for FC Barcelona but the Georgian is part of a list which also includes Nico Williams and Rafael Leão. However, the game is still far from won for the Parisians and the Barcelona residents. Even if it were not to extend, “Kvara” remains under contract until 2027 and Aurelio de Laurentiis intends to sell it for more than 100 million euros.
Recently, he confided on this subject: “Our players will stay in Naples as long as we wish and desire” he said while Antonio Conte was a bit more fatalistic: “Negotiations continue between Napoli and the player's entourage, but I cannot go into details. I ask Khvicha to continue doing what he is doing and focus on the season. He's a professional. I hope everything will be resolved in the best possible way for the club, the player and his agent. However, I also know that in football anything can happen. There must be an agreement that satisfies all parties. Regardless of how this deal ends, the player must remain focused. I don't see any problems, and time will tell everything else.”
