Recruited last winter by Olympique Lyonnais, Lucas Perri replaced Anthony Lopes in the Lyon cages this summer. While playing his first derby, the Gones goalkeeper delivered a solid performance. He looks back on this particular match.
Installed as starting goalkeeper this summer by Pierre Sage in place of Anthony Lopes, Lucas Perry made a convincing debut with OL. While he was playing his first derby last night, he reflected on the special atmosphere of this match like no other: “For me, the atmosphere of the derby was very different from that of the other matches. I am very happy for our team and our supporters to have won this match (1-0).”
He also talks about the parade he performs in front of Ibrahim Sissoko in the 76th minute, preventing the Greens from equalizing: “It's a moment of play, a quick counter-attack. I did my best to create doubt and make the task more difficult for the attacker. I'm very happy that I was able to make the save and help the team get the victory.” A saving stop which will leave the people of Stéphane with many regrets.
The Brazilian goalkeeper also talks about the feeling felt when the Groupama Stadium chanted his name: “It's a moment that I will keep in my memory for the rest of my life. I am very happy with my first victory in a derby.”
Finally, Lucas Perry believes that his team could have scored more goals in the first half, while in the second half they suffered more: “Yes, I think our team knew how to play with the ball in the first half. We could have scored more goals. In the second half, we suffered more and we gave Saint-Étienne opportunities. But I am very happy with the victory.”
A valuable success achieved by the teammates of Lucas Perry since it allows them to climb to fifth place in the championship, with 18 points, two units from the podium.
