A new competition that’s getting people talking. From June 15 to July 13, 2025, 32 teams will participate in the next Club World Cup. Among them, Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Chelsea, but also Lionel Messi's Inter Miami. But this Tuesday, FIFA made huge revelations on the new rules which will govern the proper conduct of the competition which will take place in the United States.

The new FIFA rules

Here are the new FIFA rules that clubs participating in the next Club World Cup must keep in mind:

  • Participating clubs will submit a final roster of a minimum of 26 players and a maximum of 35 (at least 3 must be goalkeepers).
  • A maximum of 26 players (11 starters and a maximum of 15 substitutes) will be called upon to play each match.
  • No footballer will be able to play for two different teams in the World Cup.
  • Clubs may make the following changes to the final list: a) clubs may replace players whose contract has expired naturally during the competition; b) clubs can add a maximum of 2 new players to the final list, which will not be taken into account when calculating the maximum of 35 players.
