180 departures between July 26 and November 5, 2024
You read correctly, 180 people, professional players, young people, and club employees under fixed-term or permanent contracts had to leave the club this summer with the dizzying fall of the Girondins de Bordeaux in the 4th French division. This is the figure given by Sud-Ouest this Wednesday morning.
Human and economic disaster
The loss of pro status, the closure of the training center, the receivership and the PSE saw 180 people forced to leave the FCGB. It is a human and economic drama.
If it is not legally a liquidation, in fact, the consequences closely resemble it.
The Sud-Ouest journalist who follows the Girondins de Bordeaux, Vincent Romain, recalls this in a post on X: “The main victims of the years of mismanagement and the collapse of the club are them. And the companies who will have to sit on unpaid debts. But all that is not very serious. Bordeaux plays every Saturday and Andy Carroll scores. So let's not say anything.”
The new General Manager, Arnaud Saint-André, officially takes office this Wednesday, November 6. He will have to rebuild the administrative and sporting aspects during the season. His task is immense and his mission perilous. The reconstruction has still not started.
