Vincent Romain: “2000€ per month is obviously derisory, it was even considered by the Regional Court of Auditors as a disguised subsidy”

On Inter, the Sud Ouest journalist Vincent Romainexplained that the Metropolis and the city of had been extremely accommodating for several years with the Girondins de Bordeaux, starting with the rental of Haillan.

“Whether public money was wasted? I don't know if that's the word, but in any case we can say that the public authorities in Bordeaux did everything to help the Girondins. On two levels. First on the rental of the training center in Haillan, which is rented for €2,000 per month, while we are talking about a park of several hectares with a castle. 2000€ per month is obviously derisory, it was even considered by the Regional Court of Auditors as a disguised subsidy. At the time of M6 this could be justified because M6 was committed to ensuring maintenance and carrying out work. M6 invested 13 million euros in the training center, so all in all, it was pretty fair. But under the American era, this is absolutely not what happened. They just took advantage of a very low rent”

And then there is the stadium.

“La Métropole accumulates more than 20 million euros in debt because they helped the club by significantly reducing the rent, and by spreading payments until 2045 […] Today, the rent is not canceled, it is postponed until later. The total amount owed by the club to the Metropolis is unchanged, but for this season in the fourth division, the club is not paying rent. And if the club were to disappear, the Metropolis would find itself with a stadium without a tenant.”
