Samu Omorodion is already a star for FC Porto. His start to the season is thunderous, to the point of making him one of the most prolific strikers in Europe. With their new Spanish striker, the Dragões have a real gem.

With 7 goals in 7 matches since his arrival on the banks of the Douro, the former Alavès player is of the same standards as l’ogre suédois, Viktor Gyökeres. He does better with a goal every 67 minutes, while the Sporting player is 84 minutes for a goal in all competitions. What impresses about the Melilla native is his size and agility, making him a real surface fox who doesn’t let any goal action escape him. As shown in his first goal against Farense, where he took a loose ball from the goalkeeper, providing a valuable victory after he had come on just minutes before. The following match, the only 20-year-old striker started and scored twice against Guimarães, including a superb uncrossed header. The Spaniard of Nigerian origin is a very good leading player, helped by his height (1.93 m). Of his 7 goals scored in the blue and white jersey, 3 were headed.

The player trained in Granada also performed well in the European Cup. In the Europa League, for his first match, he was decisive by scoring the first goal of the match against Bodø/Glimt. Unfortunately, this did not prevent FC Porto from losing 3-2 in Norway. It was during his second European match that Samu was noticed by all of Europe. While the Villas-Boas club welcomes Manchester United for a clash between two favorites for victory, the U21 international puts out an XXL performance. He is involved in all of his team’s goals. On the first, he obliges André Onana to make a save which will be taken back by Pepê at point blank range. For the second goal, he gets the best of Matthijs de Ligt and snaps an unstoppable header. Then, he concludes his recital with a strong right-footed goal after a school block. Final score 3-3 for a historic match and a benchmark performance that left its mark.

As if that wasn’t enough, during the international break, the Spanish phenomenon scored a quadruple with the U21s against Malta. With the captain’s armband, the FC Porto player had a blast. On the first goal, he controls the area and finishes with a right shot. Then, he intercepts a cross at the far post. For the third goal, he mystifies the Maltese defense with an acceleration and finishes calmly against the goalkeeper. Finally, as a symbol, his last goal is a header. Portuguese and European defenses risk having nightmares at the mention of the name of Samu Omorodion.
