AS Saint-Étienne is preparing to host Racing Club de this Saturday as part of the eighth day of Ligue 1. However, news could well complicate the Greens’ plans: the imminent return of Kevin Danso to the squad Lensois. The Austrian central defender, absent for several weeks, is now ready to return to competition, and his return is planned for this clash against ASSE.

Reinforced defensive solidity with the return of Danso?

This summer, Danso was close to leaving the Sang et Or to join AS Roma on a paid loan with an obligation to buy. However, during the medical examination carried out on August 29, the Italian health authorities detected a heart problem, an anomaly which had gone unnoticed until then, whether at RC Lens or within the Austrian Football Federation.

Following this discovery, the player had to undergo a series of additional tests from various specialists. On October 4, Kevin Danso shared on his social networks a reassuring press release signed by doctors Sanjay Sharma and Magdi Saba from the Cleveland Clinic in London. They state: “ A thorough and comprehensive study of Kevin’s heart detected no damage to the heart muscle or nerve abnormalities that could lead to or contribute to the development of dangerous arrhythmias. Based on the available data, we consider him fit to play competitive football. »

Despite this medical validation, the Lensois staff preferred to let the international break pass before gradually reintegrating the player into training from September 13. Lens therefore opted for caution by delaying Danso’s return to competition until this important meeting against Saint-Étienne.

Although the defender has yet to play since his recovery, he is now fully fit to return to the squad. It remains to be seen whether the Lensois coach will immediately call on him in a defense which remains one of the best in Ligue 1alongside that of AS Monaco.
