86 made redundant, around ten employees retained… Details of the massive social plan of the Girondins de Bordeaux

After being administratively demoted and placed in receivership, the Girondins de are preparing to lose a huge majority of their workforce. Only around ten employees will be able to keep their jobs, since at the start of the week, 86 of them received their dismissal letter.

This is the starting point for the new Girondins de Bordeaux. As a direct consequence of the demotion to National 2, the club had to part with a large part of its workforce. Placed in receivership, the employment protection plan (PSE) had become inevitable. With a descent into hell in the fourth division, the staff was no longer suited to the amateur world.

This is how at the start of the week, 86 employees of the Girondins de Bordeaux received their dismissal letter and will leave the club on November 6. Only around ten people managed to keep their jobs at Haillan. After this date, it will therefore be the real starting point for the 2009 French champions in the amateur world since since the start of the season, the club could still rely on the skills of a significant number of employees to make the transition.

A social plan financed by Gérard Lopez

Among the major departures, that of general manager Thomas Jacquemier. This social plan which concerns 86 people is financed by the president himself, Gérard Lopez. According to information from Bleu, it should cost between 6 and 7 million euros.

As a reminder, the Bordeaux commercial court decided that the club could continue its activity in Nationale 2 until the end of January 2025. Hearing again on October 29, the Girondins remain under increased surveillance by the court. Management is currently working to reduce the club’s total debt, which was put at 118 million this summer.
