Pape Gueye highlights the decisive boost

After a brilliant 4-0 victory against Malawi, national team midfielder Pape Gueye paid tribute to his coaches and teammates. This collective performance, marked by clear domination, allowed the team to return to an offensive style long awaited by Senegalese supporters.

“It’s true that it’s been a long time since we scored so many goals, I think the team was keen to win,” said Gueye with a broad smile.

“We all dedicate this victory to coach Aliou Cissé, he did a huge job in the selection,” he added, saluting the decisive role of his former coach who led the team to the top in recent years.

Pape Gueye also sent a special thought to his teammate Gana Gueye, who is going through difficult times. “I also dedicate this goal to Gana’s father and to Gana, who is going through complicated times but who wanted to be with us this week.” A gesture of solidarity which reflects the cohesion and fraternity within the group.

Speaking of the support of the public, Pape Gueye recognized the demands of the supporters, but he stressed that the players themselves are their first critics: “The Senegalese public is demanding, but we are also demanding of us.”

Under the leadership of assistant coach Pape Thiaw, the team seems to have found a new lease of life. “Coach Pape Thiaw, he adds to what he already knows how to do, he asks us to play ball, to be available, to have fun, and that’s what we did.” Thiaw’s influence is felt, with a more liberated style of play, focused on pleasure and fluidity.

Gueye, author of one of the four goals of the match, confided his personal satisfaction: “It’s nice to score.” He also does not hide his ambitions with the national team: “My goal in selection is 100 goals,” he said with determination, hinting at his desire to continue to contribute to the success of Senegal.

With this overwhelming victory and a united group, the Senegalese team is already looking ahead to the next matches, determined to maintain this dynamic. “We will do everything to win next week,” concluded Pape Gueye, confident for the rest of the qualifications.

This success against Malawi, combined with renewed confidence and strengthened cohesion, gives hope for new high-level performances for Senegal.
