(SenePlus) – MP Guy Marius Sagna was the victim of a violent attack this Sunday, September 29 in Lomé, the Togolese capital, as reported by Radio France Internationale (RFI). Present in Togo as part of his duties at the ECOWAS Parliament, Sagna was to participate in a public meeting organized by the dynamic opposition platform for the majority of the people (DMP).
The event, already disrupted by a last minute change of venue, quickly degenerated as soon as Guy Marius Sagna took the floor. People described as “big guys” by RFI threw chairs towards the head table, particularly targeting the Senegalese MP.
In the ensuing chaos, Sagna suffered injuries to her head and arm. He had to be urgently evacuated to a nearby clinic, carried by his supporters.
Beyond the physical injuries inflicted on Guy Marius Sagna, the incident left at least six others injured, including Togolese MP Brigitte Kafui Adjamagbo-Johnson. Press equipment was destroyed and vehicles vandalized, testifying to the violence of the attack.
