“We suffered but it ended in the best way”
“We
      suffered
      but
      it
      ended
      in
      the
      best
      way”

Espanyol coach Manolo González said after beating Rayo Vallecano at the RCDE Stadium that the team suffered, but the match ended “in the best way”, with Veliz’s winning goal in stoppage time.

The coach, in a press conference, admitted that “it helps a lot” to win after a year in the Second Division and “with the financial situation of the club”, which has brought in players at zero cost. “We must be positive and we try from within. The public has been spectacular,” he reflected.

Asked about the words of Rayo coach Íñigo Pérez, who said that the Madrid team had lost the match, Manolo González vindicated himself: “I respect that, but I think we deserved it, like them, to score before the 97th minute. The players have earned it, they have worked hard and they have believed.”

Regarding the Argentine striker Alejo Veliz, the coach of the blue and white team was full of praise for the signing. “He has a great future in European football. He is very young (20 years old) and he has to go through a toll that we all have to go through. He will continue to grow and every day we will see a better player,” he predicted.
