Ivory Coast and Africa are in mourning, following the disappearance of zouglouman Valéry Vitale, influential member of the legendary group Espoir 2000. The singer bowed out on Saturday October 12, 2024 in , according to several sources. He had suffered from leukemia for several years. A great loss for the entire artistic community of Côte d’Ivoire and his partner Pat Sacko with whom he announced the release of a new album for November 9 followed by a concert with zouglou legends on November 2, 2024 at Abidjan-Port Bouët Exhibition Center.

Hope 2000

The group marked the history of Ivorian and African music with hits that toured the continent, in nightclubs and discos. Formed in 1997, Espoir 2000 was made up of Pat Sacko, Shura and Valéry. The group is distinguished by its satirical treatment of societal realities by challenging women. At the beginning of the 2000s, one of the members, Shura, decided to stop his career and moved to . The trio becomes a duo; Pat Sacko and Valéry. Unfortunately for the duo who had such promising dreams, Valéry fell ill in 2017 and moved to Paris to seek treatment. His illness delayed the gestation of their album which they had decided to release.

In 2024, after having had time to make the album “Tableau”, a few days before its release, Valéry leaves us and leaves Pat Sacko alone for good.
