VfB Stuttgart played 1-1 against TSG Hoffenheim on matchday six of the Bundesliga. This means that coach Sebastian Hoeneß’s team has nine points to their credit. On the next matchday, after the international break, we’ll go to FC Bayern Munich (October 19th, 6:30 p.m., live ticker).

VfB played against TSG in a slightly different basic order – and had a few difficulties themselves. In any case, the passing game didn’t really get going at first, and the Stuttgart team hardly exerted any pressure going forward. So it was a pretty uneventful first half – before Maximilian Mittelstädt helped the guests take the lead with a major mistake. Valentin Gendrey scored in the 44th minute.

After the break, VfB coach Sebastian Hoeneß switched back to a four-man defense chain and brought on Josha Vagnoman and Chris Führich. The Stuttgart team became more powerful, but often remained unclean in their actions. Substitutes Ermedin Demirovic and Deniz Undav missed good opportunities before VfB were awarded a hand penalty in stoppage time. Demirovic was first denied by Oliver Baumann, then scored with the follow-up shot.
