It’s hard to write anything about Omar Marmoush that hasn’t already been written about the Egyptian in the past few weeks. What the noble attacker from Eintracht Frankfurt conjures up on the pitch week after week is simply too good for that. Goal and assist in the 3:1 against Hoffenheim, two goals in the 2:1 in Wolfsburg, goal in the 2:0 against Mönchengladbach, two goals and two assists in the 4:2 in Kiel and now also two goals and an assist in the 3: 3 against Bayern Munich. Craziness!
Perhaps the greatest praise came from the record champions’ coach after the point was won: “Ekitiké’s goal is not normal. How Omar Marmoush prevailed against Upamecano in this situation… Nobody has ever done that against Upa,” said Vincent Kompany, praising the Egyptian’s preparation to give Hesse a 2-1 lead (35th). Marmoush made it 1-1 himself after fine preparatory work from Ansgar Knauff (22nd), and at 3-3 he used a perfect header assist from junior Dina Ebimbe (90th + 4).

The 25-year-old is preparing to play the season of his life. Quite a few thought he had already done that last season. He scored twelve goals in the Bundesliga and prepared nine more. Strong values for someone who moved from Wolfsburg to Hesse on a free transfer.
In the new season he already has eight goals and four assists to his name after six games. Marmoush leads the league’s goalscorers and scorers lists. “He’s one of those players who grows when they’re at the right club,” said Kompany. The only question is how long Marmoush will be kept by the “right club”, Eintracht.

The Premier League beckons
Nottingham Forest came knocking on the door of the Hessians in the summer, but Marmoush didn’t want to leave Frankfurt for the team from the eastern Midlands. It is an open secret that the Egyptian will eventually be drawn to the island. The Premier League is the striker’s clear goal. If he can even come close to maintaining his current level, more well-known and wealthy clubs from England will soon present themselves to Eintracht.

That’s understandable, after all, the season is still long and a lot can still happen. Over the past 15 months, however, Marmoush has left little doubt that its development curve continues to point steeply upwards.
The Frankfurt guarantor of success also presented himself extremely modestly after his recent gala appearance. “I also have to thank my team, they helped a lot so that I could score the goals,” said the Egyptian. Maybe he should save this sentence in English as a precaution.
