Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes cannot escape the inevitability of facing a suspension.

At the weekend Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes received a red card, leading to a three game domestic suspension.

The red card was then wiped out and overturned, freeing Fernandes up for the next three Premier League games.

Then as if it was meant to be, Fernandes received a red card against Porto, the second of his Manchester United career, within a week.

Bruno Fernandes Europa League suspension

Bruno Fernandes will not escape a suspension after all – this time it will affect only the Europa League.

And this suspension will only be a one-match ban, because Fernandes was sent off for two yellow cards against Porto.

He was booked in each half, with each yellow card being for a high boot.

The suspension means Bruno Fernandes will miss Manchester United’s match away at Fenerbahce on October 24.

Fernandes misses out on a reunion against former teammates Fred and Sofyan Amrabat, against a side managed by Jose Mourinho.

Fernandes fresh for West Ham

Fernandes’ absence against Fenerbahce is bad news for Manchester United, and makes a difficult Europa League away tie even harder.

Aside from this, the losers in all of this could end up being the following Premier League opponents West Ham.

Fernandes was originally set to miss the away tie with West Ham due to suspension, before that one was overturned.

This then led to the possibility of West Ham facing a tired Fernandes, just 72 hours after he would have started against Fenerbahce in Turkey.

Instead, now West Ham will face a fully fresh and rested Bruno Fernandes, who will have a week between Premier League games to focus and prepare for that tie.
