“All in Pink” March, October 2023

The “All in Pink” event organized as part of October
Ror, dedicated to prevention, information, and support for people affected by breast cancer will have takes place on October 20, 2024. A new edition
exceptional which combines several intermunicipalities, a first in .

Elected officials from and the municipalities of Grand Sénonais have been mobilizing since 2019 in the fight against breast cancer. Marches organized in the town of Sens which then extended to Villeneuve-sur-Yonne in 2022 as part of the Local Health Contract (CLS). From 2023, the march will pass through other municipalities such as Rosoy. It mobilized 1,300 people and raised €7,500 donated to the League Against Cancer. Since January 2024, the CLS has extended to five intercommunities (Grand Sénonais, Jovinien, Gâtinais, Yonne and Pays d’Othe).

The town of Sens will be the epicenter of this “star-studded” march. Several itineraries have been planned for participants who will have to pay the modest sum of €2, €5 with the t-shirt. The Sens loop will be 4 kilometers long, in the Champbertrand plain. The other routes will be between 10 and 15 kilometers with a refreshment point in the middle, departing from Pont-sur-Yonne, Villeroy, Theil-sur-Vanne and Joigny. The walkers will all meet in Sens at the arrival point on the Chemin des Pêcheurs, near the golf driving range. Note that the steps of Sens, Pont-sur-Yonne and Villeneuve-sur-Yonne are flat routes and therefore accessible to everyone, even mothers with strollers. Located at the finish, the “Nuggets Village” will offer stands from local producers and artisans, an opportunity to highlight local products as well as short circuits and healthier eating.

A positive impact of walking

The awareness campaign bears fruit every year. Communities are seeing an increasing number of participants in events linked to Pink October. A diagnosis carried out in 2016 by the PETR revealed a low rate of breast cancer screening in the Grand Sénonais territory. At the end of 2023, this rate was very good compared to the departmental and regional levels. This rate stood at 54% for the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region for the period 2022-2023. The initiative, rather carrying a message of hope, in a very festive atmosphere, made it possible to encourage a greater number of women to carry out this screening and in certain cases to save lives.

The fight against breast cancer will be highlighted throughout the month of October in several municipalities. A Sens: A medical evening on the theme of the management of chronic pain, senology and oncology is planned by the Paul Picquet Clinic on October 8. The Sens hospital awareness day will take place on October 15 and a conference evening on October 17. Or the usual health forum on the square in front of Sens Cathedral on October 19. Forums are organized at the Maillot village hall and in Paron on October 12. A race will take place in Gisy-les-Nobles on October 27.
