Senegal: a few months after his defeat against Faye, the former…

-

A few months ago, former Senegalese Prime Minister Amadou Bâ lost to Bassirou Diomaye Faye in the presidential election in Senegal.

More than six months after this defeat against the Faye-Sonko duo, the unfortunate candidate, Amadou Bâ, decided to go on the offensive.

Indeed, the former Prime Minister of Senegal under Macky Sall and candidate of the Benno Bokk Yaakaar coalition in the March 2024 presidential election, announces his big return to the political scene.

The former head of the Senegalese prime minister intends to make this return official through a gathering which should take place on Monday, September 9, 2024 in Dakar.

The heir to the old regime in power during the March 2024 presidential election is considering a strong political comeback with the creation of a political party.

“Amadou Bâ, former Prime Minister of Senegal and candidate of the Benno Bokk Yaakaar coalition (Bby, together for the same hope) during the presidential election of March 2024, announced on his official Facebook page his intention to create a new political party”reported the African Press Agency (APA).

Thus, this announcement by the former head of the Senegalese Prime Minister’s office confirms his departure from the Alliance for the Republic of the former President of the Republic of Senegal, Macky Sall.

Note that this decision comes in a context “where the Bby coalition was dissolved by Macky Sall last week, in the midst of tension between the executive and the legislative branches around the General Policy Declaration of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko finally set by President Faye for September 13”according to the APA.

Thus, the former head of the Senegalese government invited his supporters to a meeting on Monday, September 9.

According to him, during this meeting, an Initiative Committee will be set up to begin the process for the creation of a new political party.

For Amadou Bâ, this is the beginning of a new stage in his commitment “for a Senegal of peace and shared prosperity”.
