Indian Summer – The mercury has dropped sharply in recent days but is expected to rise again this weekend

Barely out of the school holidays, the French had to face the fact that summer is well and truly over. This Friday morning, the mercury reached only 9°C in Paris, 6°C in Brest and 13°C in Marseille. A weather that therefore evokes more of a hot tea under a blanket than a spritz on a terrace. But can we hope to see the return of good weather? After an exceptionally warm October in 2023, could mild weather rear its ugly head again in France?

“We are heading towards calmer weather for the next few days,” explains Jérôme Lecou, ​​a forecaster at Météo-France. “Since June, we have been on a sequence that included frequent thunderstorms. Now, the conditions are becoming anticyclonic, so calm and cold,” he explains. The meteorological organization is also predicting bright sunshine over the vast majority of France this Friday and also all weekend.

Temperatures will rise again this weekend

In terms of temperatures, “rises are expected from Saturday afternoon and, next week, they will go back above seasonal norms”, assures Jérôme Lecou who specifies that, from this weekend, “we will have 18-19 °C in Paris, under the sun”.
