UNITED STATES – Joe Biden may no longer be a candidate in the presidential election, but the image is surprising. The American president has donned a red cap « Trump 2024 » this Wednesday, September 11, the day after the debate which saw Democrat Kamala Harris push Republican Donald Trump to his limits.

This moment, which the American leader probably intended to be light-hearted or humorous, occurred in a fire station in Shanksville, the Pennsylvania town where United Flight 93 crashed on September 11, 2001.

Joe Biden visited the barracks, 23 years to the day after the attacks, to advocate for national unity, explained Andrew Bates, White House spokesman.

Social media hype

“In a friendly manner, he offered a cap to a Trump supporter who then told him that, in the same spirit, the president should wear his Trump cap. He wore it briefly.”the spokesman tried to justify.

The video sequence, which has taken social media by storm, especially on the conservative side, shows Joe Biden, all smiles, who is already wearing a cap, covering it with this Trump cap that has just been handed to him.

Republicans immediately exploited this image of the President of the United States wearing the distinctive emblem of the Trumpists. “Thanks for the support, Joe!”ironically posted on X the Donald Trump campaign team. And added: “Kamala Harris was so bad in the debate last night that Joe Biden just put on a Trump hat.”
