“I don’t want to look elsewhere”, a nugget from the RCT extends his contract

The Rugby Club Toulonnais has just recorded an important extension for the future. It was the player himself, namely Matthias Halagahu, who confirmed this good news in the press. The young 23-year-old second row is a pure product of RCT training. It arrived in 2016, and will now stay until 2027.

“I never thought about leaving”

It was with our colleagues at Var Matin that Matthias Halagahu confirmed his decision to extend, also explaining why he had decided to stay. And the reason is quite simple: he likes the project and the evolution of the club so much that he was not interested in other proposals. This decision to stay is a continuation of the signing, a year ago, of his first professional contract.

The choice was simple. I don't want to look anywhere else! For what? The staff does a good job, Pierre has helped the team progress, the president gives everything for the club to succeed. Two years ago we won the Challenge Cup, last year we found the final phase of Top 14, it's a project in which I believe deeply and I feel that people trust me. So I never thought about leaving.

Matthias Halagahu took on a considerable dimension last season: from 13 matches played in the 2022-2023 season, he increased to 26 matches played in this 2023-2024 season. Unfortunately, he has not yet played this season, but that does not prevent the leaders of the RCT from renewing their confidence in him. It must be said that the player's performances were so noted that he was called up by Fabien Galthié during the last 6 Nations.
