VIDEO. RUGBY 7S. After a decade of exploits, the top scorer in Olympic history retires

Despite his 38 years, his swaying races and his canes of fire still caused damage. We saw it in particular during the Olympics this summer, where Perry Baker planted an anthology quadruple against Uruguay.

But the American arrow decided to say stop. If he had suggested that he wanted to compete one last time in the Los Angeles stage in 2025, Baker finally chose to hang up his crampons.

He is a true rugby sevens legend who is leaving this discipline which, after the Games, will have to find a second wind and renew itself, after the departures of the stars Dupont and Isgro as well.

Baker on the 7-a-side circuit, he scored 293 tries (in 363 matches), 10 goals at the Olympics and dozens of actions that left their mark on the discipline. For a time, we mentioned it on the side of ProD2 and , before finally extending it to 7.

With three participations in the Olympic Games (2016, 2021, 2024), two Rugby Sevens World Cups, 71 HSBC SVNS tournaments, and two Rugby Sevens Player of the Year titles (2017 and 2018), Baker will therefore leave with peace of mind and discover something else.

Paris 7s – Carlin Isles and Perry Baker flashed at excessive speeds [VIDÉO]The former friend of Carlin Isles, with whom he formed the fastest duo in the world (respectively 10’13 and 10’56 over 100m!) will in fact become coach of the national rugby sevens team. USA Rugby l has been appointed to the staff, reports RugbyPass.

A logical continuation for this sports lover, who played American football with his 7-a-side career, and who will therefore have marked the history of this sport.
