The European Union will provide aid of 235 million euros to Syria and neighboring countries, announced the European Commissioner responsible for emergency humanitarian aid, Hadja Lahbib, Friday January 17, from Damascus. This visit is the first by an EU official since the fall of the regime Bashar al-Assad, after that of the French and German foreign ministers at the beginning of January.
The official Syrian agency Sana broadcast images of the meeting between Hadja Lahbib and the new Syrian leader, Ahmed al-Charaa. “My main message is that we hope to see an inclusive government”she explained to journalists, calling for “integrates all the diversity of Syrian society”.
