Rumors are growing around the back of Brive Mathis Ferté after his recent visit to the Stade Toulousain facilities. Information confirmed by RugbyPrime and @actu_stade.
A noted presence in the Toulouse den, which fuels speculation about a possible transfer. However, Ferté is supposed to remain Brive until 2028, after signing an extension last June.
A release clause?
According to the RugbyPrime site, Ferté would benefit from an exit clause in his contract, freeing him more easily in the event of Brive not moving up to the Top 14 next season.
A detail which could prove crucial for the future of this 20-year-old player. The possibility of seeing Ferté migrate to Stade Toulousain becomes plausible if the club does not find the elite. For now, the CAB are in 5th place in the ranking at the start of the 10th day.
On the Stade Toulousain side, we follow Ferté closely, attracted by his profile and his ability to project himself quickly in attack. This young full-back, international with the U20s, has solid experience in Pro D2, having recently crossed the 50 match mark with Brive.
A transfer is not yet on the cards, however, and Ferté remains, in theory, loyal to CA Brive. But this visit to Toulouse reminds us that in modern rugby, a player's contractual situation is rarely fixed.
Brive and its supporters wholeheartedly hope to find the Top 14 and keep their nugget. But the Toulouse temptation remains very present. Does Ferté really have his head turned towards the Pink City?
