“I tried reading books, I can assure you that it didn’t work” says Costes

The year of confirmation for Paul Costes. World champion with the U20s last summer, the 21-year-old then found a place with Stade Toulousain. Growing in strength throughout the season, the center even started in the Champions Cup final against Leinster before coming into play in the Top 14 final against Union -Bègles. Although he has played a little less since the start of the season, Costes wants to confirm the hopes placed in him and continue his progress. In an interview for The Dispatchthe young player returned to his way of clearing his head outside of matches.

Padel rather than books

If he tried literature for a time, Paul Costes rather found his happiness in padel, which he practices with his father, the former international Arnaud Costes: “Some partners open restaurants but I’m still a little young… And when I say young, I’m mainly talking about my bank account (smile). But I have always liked playing a lot of sports and at the moment, the predominant sports besides rugby are basketball and padel. I play a lot of padel with my father who so far has beaten me more than I have beaten him. We’ll say that it’s a bit of my personal battle at the moment (laughs). Which therefore allows me to escape from rugby and think about something else. To tell you the truth, we can play it intellectual, I tried to read books when I had rugby too much on my mind, I can assure you that it didn’t work. I need something that makes me sweat (smile). »
