Russia strikes the city of Lviv, a thousand kilometers from the front

INTERNATIONAL – Another day of mourning in Ukraine. This Wednesday, September 4, before dawn, the sirens of the anti-aircraft defense sounded in the large city of Lviv, in the far west of the country, nearly 1,000 km from the front. Several Russian missiles then fell on the Ukrainian city, causing the death of at least seven people, as you can see in our video at the top of the article.

Donald Trump has big plans for war in Ukraine, but prefers to keep it ‘a surprise’

“In total, seven people died in Lviv, including three children”Ukrainian Interior Minister Igor Klimenko lamented on his Telegram account this morning, raising the previous toll. The authorities also counted more than thirty injured.

According to the Air Force, Ukraine was targeted by 13 missiles and 29 explosive drones during the night, of which seven and 22 were shot down respectively. For his part, Volodymyr Zelensky said: “Russian missiles hit our cities and residents (…) Ordinary residential buildings, schools and medical facilities in the city were damaged.”

Sharing photos of the damage from these bombings on his X account (ex-Twitter), the Ukrainian president denounced “Russian terrorist attacks” and once again called on the West to provide more military resources to kyiv.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister resigns

The bombing of the city of Lviv comes a day after a missile attack on a military institute in Poltava, central Ukraine, killed at least 51 people and injured 271. The strike mainly killed civilians, according to information from kyiv.

Russia has stepped up its bombing campaigns against Ukrainian cities in recent weeks. This is a response to kyiv, which launched an offensive in August against the Russian region of Kursk, occupying several hundred square kilometers there. At the same time, Moscow’s forces are pushing to conquer the rest of the Ukrainian Donbass, on the eastern front.

On Wednesday morning, after the announcement of the bombing of Lviv, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba submitted his resignation. Although he did not provide details on the reasons for his request, it appears to be primarily linked to the ongoing reshuffle within the Ukrainian government.

According to Ukrainian media, Andriy Sybiga, Dmytro Kuleba’s first deputy, is expected to replace the man who, since the beginning of the Russian invasion, has become a familiar face in the West and elsewhere in the world, traveling tirelessly to convince chancelleries to deliver the military means that kyiv needs to resist the Russian army.
