Sick, Mayor Marchand will be absent from the back-to-school council meeting

Bruno Marchand will not attend the first council meeting of the new school year, as he is affected by a virus and is working remotely.

The news broke on Tuesday, a few hours before the first municipal council meeting after the summer holidays.

“I have been fighting a virus for a few days. In order to give myself every chance of recovering quickly and not contaminating anyone, I am working from home. I will unfortunately have to be absent from the council meeting this evening,” the mayor said in a press release on Tuesday at noon. The mayor anticipates a return to city hall “in the coming days.”

From a distance

Mr. Marchand has, however, attended meetings with his team remotely since the beginning of the week.

“I am pleased to think that it will soon be possible to participate remotely in municipal council meetings in cases like this. This will be an important step forward,” added Mr. Marchand.

The last municipal council meeting was on July 2.
