Invited to France Bleu on August 26, the resigning Minister of Sports promises that Wednesday’s ceremony will be a “beautiful” spectacle that will carry “an extraordinarily committed message.”

“A strong message of inclusion”this is what the resigning Minister of Sports is demanding for the opening ceremony of the Paris Paralympic Games which will take place tomorrow, Wednesday August 28. Amélie Oudéa-Castéra was the guest of France Blue Paris Monday, August 26 to discuss the latest news regarding the Paralympic Games which open tomorrow.

And she announced it with pride: the 50,000 people expected on the Champs Élysées and Place de la Concorde as well as the television viewers can already expect “a real surprise effect”. This ceremony will be according to her “absolutely beautiful, with an extraordinarily committed message”. “The ceremony is going to be very important because it is also designed to disturb. It carries an extremely strong message of inclusion,” she adds.

Developing the place of disability in society

Choreographed by Alexander Ekman and Thomas Jolly, the ceremony promises to be spectacular: nearly “500 artists, including 150 dancers, many of whom are disabled, absolutely breathtaking” will invest the Champs-Élysées and the Place de la Concorde. The objective for the resigning minister and the choreographers is to change the place of disability in society. Amélie Oudéa-Castéra also believes that French society is sufficiently “ripe to both receive this message and carry it outside these borders”.

Asked about the identity of the artists, she announced however that she could not “to divulge secrets”adding that confidentiality has been maintained to the maximum extent possible since “two and a half years”. Despite her desire to maintain the element of surprise, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra recalls “a grand parade on the largest avenue in the world, in the colours of Paralympism”and reports the presence of athletes in several stands at Place de la Concorde.
