Sébastien Ogier aware that he was “lucky” on Thursday

This is the image of the start of the 2025 Monte-Carlo Rally. Shortly after the start of the third special, Sébastien Ogier made a mistake in a left turn and came close to being penalized. Fortunately for him, his very good reaction allowed him to catch up with his Yaris and keep it on the road.

Obviously, his adventures were not without consequences since the Habs were forced to cede the lead in the general classification to Thierry Neuville, after having nevertheless signed the first two scratches. A blessing in disguise since he only lost about fifteen seconds of this affair while the outcome could have been much sadder.

« I was luckyhe almost smiled in the service park. This could have had much more serious consequences. We can be happy to still be in the running. It’s a shame because we had a very good start to the rally.

We knew we were going to have to take a little more risk again. Our starting position is far from ideal because everyone knows there is a disadvantage to starting after a few cars. So we had to push a little more. Everything was going well but unfortunately I lost the car on a piece of dirt. But we can be satisfied with the fact that I managed to bite something on the side which allowed me to stay on the road, without damaging the car too much and only losing 15 seconds. It’s never good but in Monte-Carlo it happens and the road is still long. »

Leading by 5.3 before the start of this SS3, Sébastien Ogier is now 12.7 behind Thierry Neuville. This Friday, 6 specials are on the program. Enough for the eight-time world champion to take back his property… provided that he avoids all the traps this time.
