A leaked photo tells us about the design that Apple would have adopted for its future iPhone 17 Air. We discover the rear part of a chassis which actually has a false appearance of Google Pixel 9. This look, with strong connotations, has been mentioned numerous times in recent months.
Nothing is certain yet, and caution is of course still required, you know the drill, but a new leaked photo tends to further support the idea of a “Pixel 9” design for the future iPhone 17 Air . Mentioned by numerous leaks in recent months, this design inspired, knowingly or not, by Google’s latest flagships had initially been anticipated for the iPhone 17 or 17 Pro. It actually seems that it will be intended for the iPhone 17 Air, as the publication of a photo taken undercover could confirm.
We discover the chassis of an Apple branded device, apparently equipped with a single rear photo sensor. A characteristic mentioned for several weeks already for this brand new model, wanted to be extremely thin (like the new Galaxy S25 Edge unveiled yesterday), and anticipated for the start of the 2025 school year.
A divisive design, which therefore tends to be confirmed
The new Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is here
Xiaomi’s future bestseller has just arrived. This new reference combining impressive features and attractive prices is already on sale at Boulanger.
-As a reminder, the iPhone 17 Air is supposed to make some significant cuts to achieve a maximum thickness of 6 mm (i.e. 2 mm less than an iPhone 16 Plus), but also to arrive on the market at an acceptable price (less of 999 dollars depending on the Wall Street Journal).
Among the expected sacrifices, the removal of one of the two photo sensors currently installed on the back of the “classic” iPhone 16, to only include a single 48 Mpx wide-angle module. This compromise, constituting what the iPhone 17 Air would be, is clearly visible in the photo shared on X by leaker Majin Bu.
If we stick to this cliché, Apple would however install this single rear photo sensor in a wide black band, very similar visually to that installed, in the same place, on the latest Google Pixel 9. An aesthetic bias which could spill a lot of ink.
Either way, the iPhone 17 Air should feature an A19 processor coupled with 8 GB of RAM. There would also be a 6.6-inch OLED panel. The device should finally be unveiled next September, alongside the new iPhone 17 and 17 Pro.
