Massamba Diop, founder of Sos Médecins, was recently honored by the Aerospace Medical Association (AsMA) with the 2024 “Marie Marvingt Award”. This award is one of 18 awarded by this organization dedicated to aerospace medicine in the United States. United. Sud Quotidien reports that these recognitions are presented during an annual scientific meeting held in a large city in North America.
The AsMA “Awards” aim to recognize personalities in aerospace medicine for their notable work and contributions. The winners are chosen by a committee which reviews proposals submitted by association members to honor one or more of their peers. Each distinction is named after an illustrious figure in the history of aviation and is sponsored by a company or association. Some awards are given for specific contributions while others recognize an entire career of excellence and innovation.
-According to Sud Quotidien, Doctor Massamba Diop, son of the famous Professor Cheikh Anta Diop, founded SOS Médecins in 1997. This structure is recognized as one of the most active in medical evacuation and resuscitation in West Africa .
