Disappearance of four Moroccan truckers between Burkina Faso and Niger

Four Moroccan truckers have been missing since Saturday while they were on a road between northeastern Burkina Faso and western Niger, AFP learned on Sunday from a source at the Moroccan embassy in Burkina Faso. Faso.

The trace of these Moroccan nationals, who were traveling on board three different trucks, “was lost between Dori in Burkina Faso and Téra in Niger”, indicated the source from the Moroccan embassy in Burkina Faso, on condition of anonymity. .

They “took a route which crosses a very high risk zone, where terrorist cells and armed groups known for their regular acts of looting targeting road transport operators are active,” she said.

The Moroccan embassy is “in close coordination” with the Burkinabe authorities in order to find the four missing people.

“Taking the Dori-Téra axis, without escort, and obviously without having taken the time to find out about the security situation in the area, constitutes in itself adventurism on the part of these truckers, who ignored all measures caution before their trip”, the same source underlined.
