A fatal accident occurred yesterday, Friday, around 3:30 p.m., at the exit of Goudiry towards Kidira. The collision involved a truck registered in Mali and a vehicle from the Directorate of Control and Surveillance of Mining Operations (DCSOM) of the Ministry of Mines and Geology of Birame Souleye Diop.
The toll is heavy: two DCSOM agents lost their lives, and two other people were injured. The deceased victims are Moustapha Sow, driver, and Anna Badiane Badji, topographic geological engineer. Their bodies were deposited at the regional hospital morgue. According to authorized sources, the driver of the Malian truck was arrested by the gendarmes of the Bakel company. He was taken into custody for manslaughter, with an investigation underway to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
In a press release, the National Union of Mines and Geology Workers (SNTMG/CNTS) expressed its deep sorrow: “The SNTMG/CNTS regrets to announce the deaths of their comrades and colleagues: Anna Badiane Badji, engineer topographic geologist on duty at the DCSOM, and Moustapha (Mohamed) Sow, driver at the DCSOM.
