The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Tuesday the postponement to August 2025 of the African Nations Championship (CHAN-2024), initially scheduled for February 1 to 28 in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
“Significant progress has been made in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda with the construction and upgrading of stadiums, training grounds, hotels, hospitals and other infrastructure and facilities for the successful hosting of the World Cup. “Africa of Nations (CHAN) CAF TotalEnergies (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024)”, welcomed CAF in a press release.
However, the same source added, CAF’s technical and infrastructure experts, some based in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, required additional time to ensure that infrastructure and facilities were at the level necessary to successfully host CHAN.
Furthermore, CAF has announced that the CHAN draw will be carried out this Wednesday in Nairobi (8:00 p.m. local time).
Among the countries that will headline the draw are Senegal, the reigning champions, and Morocco, two-time winners. The exact start date of the CAF TotalEnergies Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024 African Nations Championship in August 2025 will be announced by CAF “in due course”, the statement concluded.
