Dissatisfied with waiting times at the hospital, two men suspected of having attacked thirteen people in will be tried on Monday

The two men, who came to consult on Wednesday evening for one of them at the emergency room of the Pays de Savoie Private Hospital (HPPS) in and unhappy with the waiting times, are suspected of having attacked service personnel, causing thirteen victims during a very violent episode.

Thirteen victims

Of the 13 victims identified among hospital staff, 12 were recognized as having work incapacity of between 6 and 1 day, some of them having suffered physical violence, others psychological shock, according to the prosecutor’s press release.

The two men were arrested the next day, when they presented themselves at the Annemasse police station to complain about the conditions of their admission to hospital and a refusal of treatment.

They dispute the hospital staff’s version and claim that the injured man’s brother was attacked after pointing out to a caregiver that she smelled of alcohol. They say they were molested by several people and only defended themselves, according to the prosecution.

The hospital closed its doors until Monday morning. The attack provoked numerous reactions, including that of the Minister of Health Yannick Neuder, who went to Annemasse on Saturday to show his support for caregivers.

“I said today, there is only one answer: zero tolerance. I will work alongside you to implement useful measures to protect you“, he declared on the social network X after the meeting.

He spoke of his desire to initiate a discussion with the Ministers of the Interior and Justice to more firmly condemn the attackers, “especially with minimum sentences”.

Every day, on average, in , 65 health professionals are victims of physical or verbal attacks, the Haute-Savoie prefecture and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regional health agency (ARS) indicated in a joint press release on Thursday. .
