a 26-year-old woman dies in hospital emergency room, investigation opened

Friday January 10, a 26-year-old patient died in an emergency waiting room at Villeneuve-Saint-Georges hospital. An investigation has been opened.

A patient at the Villeneuve-Saint-Georges Intercommunal Hospital Center (Chiv), aged 26, died during a visit to the establishment’s emergency room. The drama unfolded in the afternoon of Friday January 10.

The Créteil public prosecutor’s office confirms to BFMTV that it has opened an investigation into the causes of death, as revealed by the newspaper Le Parisien.

“The management and teams of Chiv are at the disposal of the police forces and share the pain of those close to them,” the management of the establishment indicated to our colleagues on Friday, reporting “an unexplained death” .

An autopsy is planned soon to shed light on his death.

Tensions within emergencies

The death of this patient takes place in a context of difficulties linked to overactivity at the Villeneuve-Saint-Georges hospital, plagued by a lack of staff. A situation which led to a strike by some emergency healthcare staff, a mobilization which lasted eleven days and which ended on Tuesday January 7.

The tragedy echoes the recent death of a 20-year-old patient, treated in the emergency room of hospital (Essonne). According to the director of the establishment, the patient was admitted on Wednesday January 8 in the morning, “standing, on her two legs”.

After a scan in the middle of the afternoon, the victim’s health deteriorated, leading to a fatal cardiac arrest. She suffered from an illness that medical confidentiality does not allow her to reveal.
