Pierre Palmade in prison: how does he spend his days?

Reminder of the facts

On February 10, 2023 at the end of the day, Pierre Palmade took the wheel to go shopping, after several days of partying and unbridled drug consumption. On a road in the south of the department, his car collided with a vehicle coming in front.

In addition to the actor aged 54 at the time, the accident left three seriously injured from the same family: a 38-year-old man, his six-year-old son and his 27-year-old sister-in-law, who lost the baby after the impact. that she was waiting for.

This accident, which led to a cascade of revelations in the press about his addictions (alcohol, drugs, “chemsex”), revealed the dark side of a popular comedian, who had been staging his fight against his existential terrors for 30 years.

The general public discovered with amazement an artist who had been unable to work for several years as he was mired in his drug addiction, dropping out of detoxification treatments and riddled with debts amounting to 250,000 euros.

“Overwhelmed”

Appearing very marked at his trial last month, his face livid, the comedian asked for forgiveness from the victims at the bar on the occasion of his first public expression in this case.

“The serious injuries of Mr. Y and the trauma of Mrs. C. (who lost her six-month-old fetus, Editor’s note)it knocked me down. I am truly overwhelmed, distressed to see them in real life.”he said.

In accordance with the prosecution’s requisitions, the judges sentenced the comedian and actor to five years in prison, three of which were suspended, after a full hour of deliberation.

For the two-year period, the court issued a committal warrant with deferred effect. He had accompanied it with a provisional execution measure, which would have resulted in the incarceration of Pierre Palmade even in the event of an appeal against the judgment.

A cocaine user since he was 20, Pierre Palmade had fallen two years before the accident into injections of 3-MMC, an even harder and more addictive synthetic drug that boosts sexual desire.

Sober for over a year

For 17 months and his nightclub outing in Bordeaux which made the rounds on social networks and outraged , Pierre Palmade has been abstinent; he undergoes regular screening tests.

“I rediscover the simple pleasures of friendship, of family, of waking up refreshed, of writing down personal thoughts”assured the artist in court, who does not plan to return to the stage one day, but who “looking for a way to convey a message about drugs, a message of recovery and hope.”

Conditions of detention

In this overcrowded prison, with more than 1,000 inmates for 633 places, Pierre Palmade is in solitary confinement. Given the extreme media coverage to which he is the subject, the man is alone in a cell of around ten square meters. A bed, a shower, toilets, and basic cooking facilities.

To kill time, he watches and writes, according to several sources. He doesn’t go out for walks much, too gloomy for him, according to a caretaker. The supervisors who drew up numerous reports on him described him as polite, discreet, but also destroyed. His psychological fragility triggers an intensification of the rounds.

In April, Pierre Palmade will be authorized to “formulate a request for sentence modification which will be submitted to the decision of a sentence enforcement judge” at the end of an adversarial hearing, the Bordeaux prosecutor’s office recalled the day after the comedian’s conviction.

He may, for example, ask to serve his sentence outside of prison with an electronic bracelet.
