Still leaving Standard, despite his return to the cages on Friday due to Matthieu Epolo’s injury, Arnaud Bodart sees a French club interested in him, at the start of the winter transfer window.
At Standard, the goalkeeper situation has been quite special since the start of the season. On the departure, last summer, Arnaud Bodart saw Matthieu Epolo take the starting place between the Liège poles.
The former captain of Rouches, who ultimately never received a satisfactory offer, therefore did not leave, and trained individually during the start of the first round, before rejoining the group.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper even replayed two matches, against Cercle de Bruges and at Charleroi, while Matthieu Epolo was in a difficult period after conceding five goals at La Gantoise. However, he tore his adductors in early December.
A French club inquires about Arnaud Bodart
Back in training, Arnaud Bodart will even start to face Kortrijk on Friday at Sclessin, since Epolo has been suffering from a thigh injury for several weeks and has not yet recovered. The situation of the former third goalkeeper of the Devils, who wants to leave and whom the club has put up for sale, has however not changed.
-And if he had not received a real opportunity to leave in the summer, Arnaud Bodart saw, in this month of January, a few clubs interested in him. Westerlo, firstly, who however never knew how to convince the Liégeois and who quickly turned to another target.
But that’s not all, since FC Metz would now be interested in his services, according to our information. The French club, fourth in Ligue 2, started the season with Alexandre Oukidja (36) in goal, who did not convince. During the last two matches, it was the former RFC Seraing, Pape Sy, who played, without experiencing more success.
This is therefore a fairly serious opportunity for Arnaud Bodart, who could therefore get involved in the fight for promotion to Ligue 1. It remains to be seen, however, whether FC Metz will be able to do what Westerlo has never managed to do: convince the goalkeeper of Standard.
