Wally Seck cancels his concert in Mbacké in the face of tensions with the Baayfaal

The long-awaited Wally Seck concert, scheduled for December 25 at the Iba Gueye stadium in Mbacké, was canceled due to growing tensions with the Baayfaal. Despite an effective communication campaign, the event was compromised by the prohibitions imposed in the region, in particular by the “kurel Samm warmaay Touba”.

The Baayfaal on alert: ban and sanctions

For several weeks, the Baayfaal have expressed their dissatisfaction with the gatherings which they consider contrary to the prescriptions of the religious city of Touba. These prohibitions include activities such as football and festive events. The sanction recently inflicted on young people from Touba – around a hundred having had their heads shaved – marked a turning point in the restrictions.

The response of young people on social networks

Despite the bans, some young people have chosen to defy these restrictions. A WhatsApp group titled “And Khekh Fathers Of The Fall” was born, bringing together members ready to retaliate against any intervention by the Baayfaal. A video posted online even shows a young person determined to mobilize nine buses to attend the concert, prepared to face possible opposition.

Wally Seck defuses the situation

Faced with rising tensions, Wally Seck decided to cancel the concert. He declared:

“If I knew this concert was going to cause a stir, I would never have considered it. I thank the organizer for agreeing to give up. Tickets remain valid, and we will offer another location soon. »

What consequences for the future?

This decision raises several questions:

  1. Will artists now avoid Mbacké for their concerts?
  2. Will Touba football teams be banned from competitions organized in Mbacké?
  3. Will this tension mark a breaking point in social relations between Mbacké and Touba?

Calm has returned, but this episode could well redefine cultural and sporting practices in these localities.
