In a post on his Truth Social platform on Sunday evening, he indicated that control of Greenland was “a necessity”.

“For reasons of national security and global freedom, the United States believes that possession and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity,” he wrote in his message published to announce the appointment of Ken Howery as Ambassador of Denmark.

The Prime Minister of Greenland, Mute Egede, hastened on Monday to clarify that the territory was “not for sale”.

Another country mocked by Trump

The day before this publication on Greenland, Saturday, the president-elect had threatened Panama to regain control of its famous canal.

A threat immediately rejected by the president of Panama.

Donald Trump, however, added a layer by publishing, on Sunday evening, a photo which seems to have been taken thanks to artificial intelligence (AI) of the Panama Canal with an American flag.

“Welcome to the United States Channel,” he wrote in the post.

This is reminiscent of the president-elect's mockery of Canada two weeks ago.

He then described Justin Trudeau as “governor” of 51e American state.

He also posted a photo, also obviously from AI, in which he is standing on top of a mountain range alongside the American flag.
