Work on the development of the Adrar stadium in Agadir continues with a view to hosting the matches of the African Cup of Nations which will be held from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026. This work is making significant progress and should be completed. within the planned deadlines.
Hicham Aloulou, director of Stade Adrar in Agadir, explained, in a statement for Le360, that the work, launched more than two months ago, aims to renovate the stadium both inside and outside. This includes increasing the capacity of the parking lots, improving the training grounds by turfing them, adding changing rooms and new stands, as well as strengthening the exterior fences of the complex to resolve the problems that hindered smooth entry of spectators and visitors into this sports infrastructure.
Hicham Aloulou specified that the interior renovation concerns the arrangement of the changing rooms of the main field, in compliance with FIFA specifications for competitions such as the 2025 Africa Cup and the 2030 World Cup. Spaces intended for important personalities and guests of the stadium, as well as areas reserved for journalists, are also being developed and will be equipped with high quality facilities to enable them to work in optimal conditions.
The stadium director added that the works also include the re-grassing of the main pitch, the replacement of a large number of seats in the stands, and the upgrading of the various technical installations of the sports complex so that they are fully ready to host upcoming major sporting events. He stressed that the work is progressing quickly to meet deadlines.

Hicham Aloulou also indicated that the second phase of work will begin just after the end of the 2025 Africa Cup. It will consist of meeting 100% of FIFA's requirements in order to host the matches of the 2030 World Cup.
This phase will include the complete coverage of the stands, the increase in the capacity of the complex thanks to the removal of the athletics track, replaced by seats, which will bring the stands and spectators closer to the grass field. He insisted on the importance of these continental and international competitions in the development of the region's sports infrastructure.
