Former minister Papa Malick Ndour questioned Alioune Tine, Seydi Gassama, Birahim Seck, as well as other intellectuals passionate about questions of transparency in the management of public finances on the publication of the budget execution report for the last quarter of the year 2024. “Today is December 21 and, to date, the budget execution report for the third quarter of 2024 has still not been published. This constitutes a new flagrant violation of Law No. 2022-12 of December 27, 2022 on the Code of Transparency in the Management of Public Finances,” considers the Guinguineo political actor who recalls that a recent publication of “this type of report had recently fueled a debate concerning the resources consumed by Ousmane Sonko, compared to those executed by his predecessors. Hence the questions about the sensitive political factors which could explain this delay. Could the publication of the report reveal information likely to trigger political debates or criticism on the management of public finances, in particular concerning the resources consumed by Ousmane Sonko compared to those of his predecessors?
Is there a reluctance to publish this report in order to avoid exposing excessive or misdirected spending which would risk tarnishing the image of the government in place? Is the government trying to hide certain information? Is there a desire to delay or hide data likely to give rise to criticism of budgetary choices or expenditure deemed ineffective or poorly managed? So many questions to which answers are awaited according to the former minister.
